Lipstick jungle

There was a period of time quite recently when I hated red lips. They stand out too much and I don’t like the attention. So I stopped using any red colours I had and switched to nude coloured lipsticks. But within the last three weeks alone I picked up 3 tubes of red lipsticks and I’m falling back in love. The colour really suits + brightens up my face.

Whether or not you like red, I recommend these three lipsticks if you’re going shopping:

^ Of all the lipsticks I own this is the underdog. It’s from bare escentuals better known for its mineral powders but when I was shopping there the other day I decided I really liked this colour (Red Delicious) and bought it. I am happy to report that this lipstick, made with 100% natural and organic ingredients, is non-drying and super long wearing. The colour hardly leaves my lips even when I’m partying all night and is super comfortable to wear. And it is also very affordable at $29.

^ My favourite make up brand ever. It might be an indirect blessing that we don’t have Nars in singapore, because it seems like everytime I see a Nars counter I have to buy something. Anyway I saw this sheer Flamenco shade online the other day and because red lipsticks are inappropriate for daytime and work, I decided to purchase this sheer colour described as ‘candy apple red’. As a loyal wearer of Nars lipsticks I can find nothing bad to say.

Last but not least, mac sheen supreme lipstick. I was telling my mom about sheer reds and she presented me with this a few days ago. Normally I don’t shop at mac because the music they play is so loud and I don’t really know how to shop with so many colours to choose from and honestly I am not very confident in their quality. So if my mom hadn’t bought this for me I would probably never come to know of this product. But it is really good. It is super easy to apply like it just gliiides on to give my lips a natural red flush that is slightly glossy.

My latest obsession

For someone with extremely dry and pale lips, tinted lip balms are strictly a necessity. I keep a lip balm everywhere I can think of, in my purse alone I always carry around two. I feel like shit when I’m out and my lips are so dry and all I can do is make it worse by licking my lips.

I am super fussy about my lip balms by the way.

  • It has to feel moist when I apply it on my lips. If I don’t feel the moisture I don’t feel the effect.
  • It has to come in a stick form, because a tub is too unhygienic and and a tube is messy.
  • Then comes the colour. So many times I’ve been cheated by the words “A hint of colour”. It’s disappointing.

Enter my newest obsession Clinique Chubby Stick!

Obviously, I only have good things to say about it hence this post. Besides its cute name and packaging, there are so many colours to choose from! The colours are sheer and natural, perfect to get you through days at school. At $26, it can be considered pricey for a lip balm, but still affordable. The best part about it is it comes in crayon form, which I love. It’s so much easier to apply lip colours from a crayon, don’t you think? I love having this additional option in the very small tinted lip balm market.

There is another lip balm I highly recommend, it was a very pleasant surprise, because I just bought it on a whim for fun when I was at Watson’s. It’s the Maybelline tinted lip balm with SPF. I honestly don’t think it even has a proper name haha. But it is so good. So I learnt, don’t discriminate drug store brands!

It keeps my lips moisturized all day, and makes my lips look glossy, and and THE BEST PART is it’s only $4! It’s my secret and now you all know it 🙂 This tube is so tiny I like to keep it in my coin pouch. Very handy 🙂

For the night time, I always apply Burt’s Bees Medicated Lip Balm before I go to bed. My mom buys me a ton of lip balms especially when she travels and sees interesting ones.. But I still stick to this. $10 at Sephora.

So there, hope you enjoyed this little insight into my daily habits and obsessions. Lip balms are a big part of my life!

For radiant skin

Hello… Just want to recommend all my friends a skincare product that has really worked wonders for me, just one month after I started using it. My dermatologist recently switched up my daily routine and one major change is the addition of a Vitamin C serum. I don’t actually think that Vitamin C cures acne directly, but it complements the rest of my skincare products very well and no matter what condition your skin is in, Vitamin C would be suitable as it contains a high concentration of anti-oxidants and collagen, and is generally healthy for your skin. It gives your skin a healthy, radiant glow after continued usage.

Note of caution: Vitamin C serum is preferred to the cream form, as the cream form oxidizes more easily and turns brown. Serum is also more highly concentrated and packs more of a punch.
